Scott Furlong

I am a User Experience (UX) professional with roots in marketing. I recently sharpened my saw by completing a master’s in Human Factors in Information Design at Bentley University. The program gave me the chance to refine my existing UX skills, as well as to add some new ones to my repertoire. I bring these skills, empathy, my creativity and passion to every project. I easily transition between group and independent work. That said, I connect success much like I do to a good movie; the experience is even more enjoyable when shared with a group.

My success is based on creating a vision, developing a strategy, and then taking a work-hard-play-hard approach to make it happen. I am proficient at managing large projects with tight deadlines, using either waterfall or agile methodologies. Collaboration with customers, team members, and individuals from across the organization has allowed me to develop creative solutions for all stakeholders, and efficiently manage them to final delivery.

My strong communication and presentation skills, coupled with my business background, differentiate me from others in the UX field. I am able to communicate the benefits of UX to all levels of management within an organization. Further, I can link UX benefits to specific business objectives, whether internal or those of a client. This is how I went from managing one of Manulife Financial’s division sites to all 34 sites within the division; I started without an annual budget and eventually grew it to $1.35M per year. I regularly presented to senior management to provide updates and proposals for future site enhancements, annually presented site enhancements to the national sales force and presented the sites to all large clients exceeding $15 million in annual revenue.

What I love most about UX is helping users and businesses to help their users and the challenge of continuous learning.
